tescodisco Hello Violets, I've a new picture making machine and was wondering if it would be ok to test it out at your gig?

best ask for permission at the venue, i know that at this rather intimate space they prefer photographers not to use flash during performances and certainly most performers are of the same opinion.
if you use traditional (proper) film in a proper camera try getting some rated at 1600 or 3200 asa (can be found even in snappy snaps) or if using a digital monstrosity remember to set the asa rating at 1200 or 1600 then work on manual at maximum aperture, you should be able to get very reasonable shots with a shutter speed somewhere around 1/60th or 1/30th of a second - then enhance the contrast, colour balance etc in photoshop or similar image manipulation software packages before you print

Cheers for that, I do in fact use a digital monstrosity, but it's solely on economical grounds. I still have my spotmatic as my film slr though!
