LIVERPOOL CALLING - Dirtblonde's new club night in Liverpool Tomorrow marks the opening of a new club night in Liverpool - LIVERPOOL CALLING!
The pattern will be set :
- Great lineups with amazing local bands who never get to play in the same bill (because most gig promoters are clueless and dont care that much about music) and cool bands from out of town who hardly ever get the chance to play in Liverpool.
- Cool music no other club night plays because most DJs just play the obvious.
- Entry just £2.50!
- Bands who are our myspace friends just pay £1 to get in

Opening night is on Wednesday 24th October, Upstairs @ Hannah's Bar.
Featuring live: Dirtblonde, Jewel Thief, Billy Ruffian, Fraktures + Tom George Poetry set
DIRTBLONDE (Filthy Little Angels records)
"Nasty, primitive garage-punk-pop...Twisted geniuses in the making. operate in a twilight world where the canonical bands are not the Beatles or Beach Boys and their heirs but the Cramps, 60s garage punk, The Stooges, Pussy Galore, The Kills, mid 70s New York punk. An imagined place where music can offend and inspire not simply end up as incidental music in a mall or on football highlights. And for this, and their winning ways with the primitive, primeval riff and hook, I salute them." (Is This Music? review)

JEWEL THIEF
Brilliant, catchy, swampy rock'n'roll blues noise. A great live act, who despite some retro/ classic influences still manages to sound new and exciting!

BILLY RUFFIAN (Filthy Little Angels records)
"With his jacket, shirt and tie (think tax office as opposed to scenester style) and crumpled demeanour, Billy Ruffians frontman Stephen Bray looks like hes just sneaked out of work to go to an AA meeting spinning streams of consciousness across discordantly powered guitars, tracks like Death Of A Band and Gig In A Room observe the world in which Bray finds himself with the same brilliantly wry black humour as Half Man Half Biscuit. They are one of those bands where you want to hear every word because there is actually something there worth listening to...worth watching too he soon makes use of the freezing concrete space at the front to jump around like a pinball. Billy Ruffian are, in short, just the sort of kick up the arse music needs right now." - Manchestermusic.co.uk

FRAKTURES
Hi-Octane, super catchy, brilliant Buzzcocks-loving rock'n'roll powerhouse. Definitely one of the very best new bands in Liverpool. There's no choice - you will love them!

TOM GEORGE (poetry set)
Poet, musician, and the promoter behind the Slacker nights and fanzine. He'll open the first Liverpool Calling with an ace poetry set...so come early! http://www.myspace.com/tomgeorgeness
"We are bombed-out. We are urchins, refugees from commerce. Trooping our way to the grimy shells of warehouse-land, to the empty halls of forgotten merchants. Here we gather with wide-eyed music, to celebrate the hideous beauty inside of ourselves..."
Doors 8pm, entry 2.50 pounds, or ONE POUND for bands who are Liverpool Calling friends on myspace.
