F*CK featuring James Endeacott/1965 Records
ARE YOU COMING TO F*CK? Dirtblonde’s F*CK club is here to save your Thursday nights and offer some cheap drinks, freebies, cool bands and great music. Each month, F*CK tries to be special, and different than the one on the month before. That’s why, on 8th June, F*CK will bring you some very special guests: James Endeacott, Rough Trade’s legendary A&R man who signed The Strokes and The Libertines, will come to Korova to spin his favourite discs and showcase the new talent signed to his new label, 1965 Records. Will his latest discoveries prove to be as influential? Well…time will tell, but you can come and find out first, for yourself, at Korova’s small and dingy basement. It will be a classic night, that’s for sure! The View, 1965 Records’ brightest hope, are five boys from Dundee, who’ve already made a name for themselves by being quoted in NME as Bobby Gillespie’s favourite new band. They have supported Primal Scream and Babyshambles, and played at Radio 1’s Big Weekend a few weeks ago, alongside acts such as Bloc Party and Dirty Pretty Things. The other 1965 band is Jack Afro. They play a no nonsense rock’n’roll and are yet another new band to come out of the thriving Yorkshire scene. Their new single is released in June and they are ready to show what they’re made of at club F*CK. Completing June’s line up, two local bands who you should know by now! Dirtblonde are a band like no other in Liverpool. Their last gig at Korova collapsed after just 4 songs, in a mess of broken glass and smashed guitars. Lula Blue had her feet licked by fans and Ivan DJ-ed with blood on his face. Come and find out just what it is that is attracting the attention of people like Steve Lamacq (Radio One), Alan McGee (Creation/Poptones) and John Kennedy (XFM). Automation are legends. Their sexy, electro-rock tunes are dark and infectious. Their music shows a love for 80’s electro while looking to the future. Vocalist Chris Ward is also the new resident DJ at Evol and if you like the stuff he plays, you’ll love this band! F*CK: 8th June, doors 9pm-2am, £5/£3 before 10pm.
