Diggin' the crates : Post Office stylee... I was in Paignton post office this week and i noticed that they'd started stocking budget-priced CDs.
On closer inspection i found the racks bulging with CDs by marginal 90s indie bands such as Number One Cup and Heavy Stereo. (2 albums for £1.99!)
Is this slightly unnerving phenomenon restricted to Paignton or are all post offices in on the act? I need to know to satisfy my own curiosity.
If so - which ropey indie bands have you accidentally re-discovered whilst posting your parcels?
Maybe you've even seen a member of Heavy Stereo working in a post office branch in a provincial town near you?
Either way - The Post Office is now officially the second-best record shop in Paignton. Behind Woolworths...
VOICES FROM DOWNTRODDENDOM #4 WILL BE OUT THIS SPRING.
IN THE MEANTIME, LOOK OUT FOR TWO ARTICLES ON MAPS LATER THIS MONTH CALLED : '24 HOUR PAIGNTON PEOPLE' AND 'HOW THE WESTCOUNTRY WAS WON (AND WHERE IT GOT US)'.
Peace out, kids.

I haven't noticed any bargain bins in the Southend Post Office yet, but I expect to be able to buy CDs by The Horrors, Wretched Republica, These New Puritans and Theoretical Girl at knock-down prices come the new year. :D
